exams just in. thank God. it was good thou. needed that jolt and stuff. currently chatting with Gillian. and we are so trying to outbitch each other. ha ha. i miss my best friend. sigh.
anyhoo. was helping my mum clean the hse for CNY and i was just thinkin how cool it is. i mean we're all teenagers rite? with our own lives. our own friends, schedule and world. but we take a step back every celebration. take Thaipusam for example. there was this dude who's a pro dancer and all. and he's there at Batu Caves. shaving his head and carrying his kavadi. hmm. or something closer. like Chinese New Year. the mere act of buying new clothes. NOT sweeping the house on the day itself. balik kampung. standing in a line eagerly awaiting ang paus. it's all so queer. yet so sweet. despite what all the sceptics say. we are still holding on to tradition as it is passed i mean "googled" down from one generation to the next. even in the midst of all this new age technology and everythin fancy, we still have this vague idea of what these celebrations should be like. and as long as we still maintain these ideas, we'll be practising them every year after the previous generation have passed on. in doing so, we pass down these traditions and vague ideas, in all its sweetness and quirkyness, to the next generation. in complete joy and utter faith that they too will continue to uphold this, umm, legacy. if i may. well if i were to pass my own idea of CNY, it'll b filled with angpaus, kuaci, Shandy! and blackjack. oOo not to mention a cheongsam and the joyous laughter of all my fam members. and the hokkien they speak of which i hardly understand. so?bite me!;)
